Two Seattle “Mompreneurs” Wow Hollywood Elite with their Innovative Products
Stay-at-home moms turned work-at-home moms take Hollywood by storm at Pre-Golden Globes Celebration
Seattle, WA., Jan. 16 -- Two Seattle mothers, who have already helped thousands of parents around the
globe with their simple yet innovative products, shared their inspired creations with Hollywood’s hottest
celebrity moms and dads at an invite only pre-Golden Globes luxury gifting suite. Nicole Donnelly, founder
of BabyLegs®, and Heather Correa, founder of Woobee Products, delighted Hollywood’s hottest moms and
dads with their creative product lines at the Boom Boom Room and Big Kid Style Villa at the Century Plaza
Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA., on Jan., 11, 2007.
The event introduced stars and media to the best baby lifestyle brands on the market, as well as raised
awareness and funds for EB (Epidermolysis Bullosa) Kids Medical Research Foundation. For Donnelly and
Correa, whose brands quickly became a celebrity favorite, the day-long event was a tremendous success.
In a shared-private suite, Donnelly and Correa displayed and gifted their standout product lines to celebrities
and members of the media. Notable television and movie stars like: Angie Harmon, Laura Leighton, Angela
Bassett, Tia Carrere, Tisha Campbell, Diane Farr, Shar Jackson and many more picked up BabyLegs, a line offashionable leg warmers for infants and toddlers, and Woobee Products, a stylish line of water resistant babyproducts.
Tia Carrera, already a BabyLegs fan, picked out new designs for her daughter and herself. “I love BabyLegs,”
said Carrera. “I always get so many compliments on them.” Taking Carrere’s lead, actress Tisha Campbell
picked out matching BabyLegs styles for herself and her little one. Hollywood mamas were equally impressed with Woobee products. “These are genus. What a fantastic idea,”said Angie Harmon. Thrilled, Harmon picked up two pink and chocolate blankets for her daughters.
Other celebrities commented on the softness and utility of Woobee products. “He is always kicking off his
blanket; this will be great,” said ER star Ming-Na. “And it’s so soft.” She picked out a blue and chocolate plush
blanket and bib.
When Donnelly and Correa began their separate business ventures two short years ago neither anticipated
the warm welcome they would receive from parents, retailers and media from around the globe. After the
star–packed Golden Globe event, they can now add celebrity parents and their tinsel town tots to their fan
base.
“We are (both) examples of how a simple idea can become a success with enough drive, support and belief,”
said Donnelly. Inspired by the experience of motherhood, Donnelly and Correa joined the ranks of the growing number of mothers who run businesses from their homes. The two women met after Correa spotted Donnelly on a Seattle Television station. Donnelly was featured as a local female business owner. Correa called Donnelly, seeking advice about starting her own business. The two women have been supporting each other’s business and personal ventures ever since.
They are a part of a vast growing trend of “mompreneurs,” a term coined to describe mothers who are juggling home duties with home businesses. An estimated 89 million mothers, worldwide, try to solve the
work-life juggle by running businesses out of their homes. In fact, by 2005 “mompreneurs” started twice as
many businesses as other entrepreneurs.
How it all started:
For Donnelly, a stay-at-home mom, the idea behind BabyLegs came when she was looking for a way to keep
her daughter’s legs warm during a bout of diaper rash. Donnelly cut the “feet” off a comfy pair of her socks
and slipped them on her baby girl’s legs. Soon Donnelly was creating and sewing fun, stylish designs and
selling her homemade leg warmers everywhere she went from play dates to swim classes.
In April 2005, BabyLegs was officially born. With the help of a large online presence and terrific word-ofmouth, quickly this stay-at-home mom found herself a work-at-home mom with a rapidly growing business.
Fashionable and practical, these cute accessories: keep little legs (and arms) warm all year round, make
diaper changes a breeze, protect soft knees from harsh surfaces, provide light weight sun protection, make
potty training easier, jazz up any dance class and make a fun fashion statement with styles for every occasion.
Within 12 months, the line became a runaway success now sold in 32 countries.
Correa, an outdoor enthusiast, was inspired to create a new concept in baby gear after the birth of her first
daughter. Motivated, she started These Two Girls and introduced Woobee products, a line of stylish water
resistant baby products in October 2005.
“The Woobee product line is an expression of many frustrating years as an outdoor enthusiast Mom,” said
Correa. “I could never find baby products that were functional and a reflection of my own sense of style, so I
just decided to design my own.”
The Woobee line features blankets, bibs and burps that keep children warm and dry. With its unique design
and fabric combinations, Woobee products feature a soft, cozy material on one side and a wind and water
resistant backing. The blankets are perfect for outdoor outings, diaper changes and for snuggling; the
Woobee line quickly gained popularity among Correa’s friends and family. Woobee products are now sold
nationwide, both online and in fine retail stores.
